Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity

Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments.

a. Promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness

b. Engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources

c. Promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students’ conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes

d. Model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments

My Progress Towards This Standard:

Evidence 1:

EdPuzzle

This is a video that I have created using EdPuzzle. This is an instructional video about how to count by tens with pauses built in to the video where it will stop and ask the students to reflect on the material. This video meets this ISTE standard because it is a model of collaborative knowledge. By integrating questions and reflections into the video, it engages the students and results in conceptual understanding.

Evidence 2:

Inquiry Project

This is a project that I have created about the importance of rules. In this project, students learn the importance of rules and make some of their own rules that they think should be in place in the classroom. Students then must make a video describing their rules and why they think their rules are important. This activity meets this ISTE standard because engages students by exploring a real-world problem and allowing them to use their creativity and digital tools to come up with authentic solutions to the problem. This project also promotes creative and innovative thinking through the students creating their own rules and making a video.

Evidence 3:

Educreations:

This is a video that I have made using the iPad app, Educreations. This video explains what basic patterns are and demonstrates how to use them. This Educreation video  supports this standard because it models creative and innovative thinking using a digital tool. It also allows students to to focus on the conceptual understandings of the topic by giving the student problems to practice with. This video creates a safe virtual environment for students to learn in.
