Engage in professional growth and leadership.

Teachers continuously improve their professional practice, model lifelong learning, and exhibit leadership in their school and professional community by promoting and demonstrating the effective use of digital tools and resources.

a. Participate in local and global learning communities to explore creative applications of technology to improve student learning

b. Exhibit leadership by demonstrating a vision of technology infusion, participating in shared decision making and community building, and developing the leadership and technology skills of others

c. Evaluate and reflect on current research and professional practice on a regular basis to make effective use of existing and emerging digital tools and resources in support of student learning

d. Contribute to the effectiveness, vitality, and self-renewal of the teaching profession and of their school and community

My Progress Towards This Standard:

Evidence 1:

Service Learning

This is my service learning project that I collaborated with a 5th grade teacher to make. I received a single lesson from the teacher and then created a whole technology based project out of it. This supports this standard because exhibits leadership through the collaboration with other teachers. It also displays the transformation of a non-technology assignment into a technology infused assignment. This project lead to a renewal of the teacher's philosophies by incorporating more technology into her classroom.

Evidence 2:

Storify

This is a conglomeration of education tweets made with the online resource, Storify. Storify is an online resource where you can make a story out of different tweets. My story was about Elementary Education. Storify supports this standard because all of the tweets that make up the story form a global learning community. It also allows for people to evaluate and reflect on other teachers teaching practices using a digital tool.

Evidence 3:

Personal Learning Network - Twitter

Twitter is often used as a Personal Learning Network that teachers will use to share ideas with other teachers. Personal Learning Networks support this standard because it allows teachers to participate in local and global communities where they can share ideas to enhance student learning. It also allows teachers to share ideas and online resources with each other. This results in the self-renewal of the teaching profession.
